Why Choose Coconut Wood?

Most tropical exotic hardwoods involve someone, somewhere, cutting down a rainforest.

But Palm Global coconut flooring is a truly “green” tropical exotic hardwood floor.

Our wood comes exclusively from coconut plantations, from mature coconut  trees.

At 50-80 years of age the coconut palm becomes senile (stops producing coconuts in commercially viable quantities) or has become too tall for the farmers to safely harvest. Either way, it would be cut down to make way for new saplings.

We use these “waste” palm trees to produce our beautiful, high quality flooring. This reduces the need to harvest wood from the forest, and provides a “second use” for these plantation-grown trees.

In addition, since we mill our planks straight from the tree trunk, there is no gluing or “processing” of the planks. This not only eliminates dangerous chemical usage and the potential for off-gassing, it also doesn’t require the energy that would be needed to manufacture and bond an engineered plank together.

So when you buy a Palm Global coconut wood floor not only are you getting a beautiful natural floor, you are getting the peace of mind that comes from making a sound, environmentally-responsible choice.
